Spectrum Networks Launches Statewide Network in Kentucky

Spectrum News 1 delivers 24/7 statewide news and original programming

Louisville, KY – Spectrum Networks today announced that it has launched Spectrum News 1, which introduces a new format for news with high-quality statewide and original news programming curated for Spectrum viewers across Kentucky.

“We’re thrilled to expand Spectrum News 1 to deliver 24/7 news to all Spectrum viewers in Kentucky,” said Alan Mason, Group Vice President-General Manager, Spectrum News South/Midwest. “Spectrum News 1 will serve the greater needs of Kentuckians through a statewide news format and the creation of original programming and content that is reliable, objective and relevant.”

With dedicated facilities and multimedia journalists (MMJs) across the state, Spectrum News 1 provides viewers dynamic and comprehensive statewide news, local weather, issues-based long-form programming, and balanced political and public affairs programming.

Every Monday through Friday starting at 5 AM, viewers can tune to Spectrum News 1 for the most essential statewide news and stories of the day, including up-to-the minute local weather reports by Meteorologists Deitra Tate and Chris Havely.

Starting at 8 PM, Spectrum News 1’s Chelsea Washington anchors the evening news, providing a recap of the day’s most important stories and preparing Kentuckians for the day ahead. Chief Meteorologist Wes Callison and Meteorologist Alan Auglis report on the weather changes and forecasts throughout the state.

On the weekends, Spectrum News 1’s Michael Cadigan helps viewers get an informed start to their days every Saturday and Sunday at 6 AM. In the evenings, Spectrum News 1’s Ashleigh Mills covers the top news of the day starting at 7 PM.

Spectrum News 1’s high-quality programming also includes a nightly political program, Pure Politics, dedicated to covering statewide political issues. The program, hosted by Michon Lindstrom, airs weekdays at 7 PM. “In Focus Kentucky, the network’s 30-minute local public affairs show hosted by Mario Anderson will continue to air on Sundays at 10 AM. The network’s extensive political coverage also includes reporting from a dedicated team of 14 journalists working out of the Spectrum Networks Washington D.C. Bureau, including MMJs assigned to cover specific congressional delegations for Spectrum viewers.  Multimedia Journalist Eva McKend has been assigned to cover the Kentucky congressional delegation on the Hill and follow members as they build coalitions, introduce, and vote on key legislation in the House and Senate.

Spectrum News 1 airs on channel 1 across Kentucky.
