Spectrum Networks Launches Statewide Network in Wisconsin

Spectrum News 1 delivers 24/7 statewide news and original programming

Milwaukee, WI – Spectrum Networks today announced it has launched Spectrum News 1, which introduces an innovative approach to 24/7 statewide news and information.  The network will tell stories around the subjects that unite Wisconsinites, as well as create content for the individual neighborhoods throughout the state about issues that are most prominent to them.

The decision to launch Spectrum News 1 is part of Spectrum Network’s effort to strengthen the individual communities throughout Wisconsin, and through recognition that local journalism is vital to maintaining a well-informed, engaged society. Spectrum News 1 journalists have the time, the resources and the mission to tell important stories and to do so in a way only achievable by someone who is of the community.

Through Spectrum News 1, Spectrum Networks is growing its investment in local content to cover the stories that matter most to Wisconsin viewers in an in-depth way. Spectrum News 1 will have teams on the ground in Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay, as well as reporters dedicated to traveling around the state for in-focus profiles to ensure that the stories that matter most are delivered to Spectrum viewers. And, since what happens in the state government impacts schools, healthcare and the economy in communities around the state, the network will have dedicated multimedia journalists (MMJs) covering the state capitol and the Wisconsin congressional delegation on Capitol Hill.

“We’re thrilled to launch Spectrum News 1, a new format for 24/7 news in Wisconsin,” said Alan Mason, Group Vice President-General Manager, Spectrum News South/Midwest. “Spectrum News 1 will serve the greater needs of viewers in Wisconsin through a statewide news format and the creation of original programming and content that is reliable, objective and relevant.”

Every Monday through Friday starting at 6 AM, viewers can tune to Spectrum News 1 for the most essential statewide news and stories of the day with Anchor Sachelle Saunders, with up-to-the minute local weather reports by seasoned forecasters Kristin Ketchell and Brooke Brighton.

Starting at 5 PM, Spectrum News 1‘s Jason Fechner anchors the evening news, providing a recap of the day’s most important stories and preparing Wisconsin viewers for the next day. Chief Meteorologist JD Rudd and meteorologist Craig Koplien also report on the weather throughout the state.

On weekends, Spectrum News 1 helps viewers get an informed start to their day starting at 7 AM. In the evening, Spectrum News 1’s Alyson Bruner covers the top news starting at 6 PM.

The network’s sports programming features in-depth coverage of the Green Bay Packers, including live post-game highlights and analysis after each game. “Packers Live with Lance Allan and Wayne Larrivee,” a half-hour show that takes an in-depth look at the week’s game ahead, airs Wednesdays at 7 PM, and the half-hour show “Roundtable,” with former Packers LeRoy Butler and Gary Ellerson, airs every Monday at 7 PM and Thursday at 7:30 PM.

Spectrum News 1 airs on channel 1 across Wisconsin.
